How To Lay Carpet Tiles
Before you start
It’s easy to lay pressure sensitive carpet tiles in your rumpus room, office space or garage with Dunlop Carpet Tile Adhesive, it spreads on easily and you will be enjoying the space in no time.
Surfaces must be thoroughly clean and dry prior to application of the adhesive. Highly porous concrete or timber subfloors should be primed with Dunlop Primer and Additive. Imperfections in subfloors can be fixed with Dunlop Floor Levellers or Floor Repairers with ease. Rising damp or when applying over green concrete, apply Dunlop Damp Proof as a moisture barrier.
There are two application methods depending on personal preference, either a 1.6mm V notch trowel or a short nap roller. Spread the adhesive over the surface and allow to set open until dry to touch (approx. 15-30 minutes).
Roll the carpet tile/underlay in both directions as per manufacturer’s recommendations. Ensure there is good contact between the adhesive and the carpet/underlay.
- A thoroughly clean and level surface is essential prior to applying adhesive.
- The adhesive is ready for carpet tiles when it becomes transparent with no transfer to the fingertips when touched.
- You can traffic the area after 24 hours and heavy traffic for 48 hours.
